Last Thursday it was finally time for the first meeting as part of the new series Drupal techtalks. In these meetings, organized by Swis, Synetic, React Online and Finalist, developers will give presentations on a wide variety of technical topics.
Although the subject has a wide variation, the presentation always has to do with Drupal. The location for the first four editions is at the offices of the organizing parties. After that, participants can propose a location themselves. The first tech talk took place at Finalist in Maarssen.
The presentations
In Maarssen three speakers highlighted Drupal with their own story. Rolf van de Krol kicked off by showing the audience how Swis deals with keeping the various Drupal websites that are managed up to date. Then it was the turn of David Bekker who showed when Drupal 9 is going to be end of life, when Drupal 11 and 12 will make their appearance and most importantly: that we have to get started updating our sites to Drupal 10 as soon as possible!
The last speaker of the evening was Jori Regter who took the attendees on the journey that every developer often makes: finding a very specific, but not at least annoying bug in an important high traffic website...
The Drupal techtalks is an event by and for the community and was once started by Marc van Gendt. Unfortunately, he could not be present himself, but with a beautiful card he managed to hand over the baton in a dignified and fun way. Who knows, maybe a new tradition has come to life!
The next edition...?
The first Drupal techtalk was a cozy meeting with pizza, beer / soda and fun / fascinating presentations. If you missed it and want to come by next time, keep an eye on the Slack group announcements. The next edition will be organized by React Online. The date will be announced as soon as possible.
